MAHMUD KASHGARI'S "DIVANI-LUGAT IT-TURK" AND THE AZERBAIJAN LANGUAGE
Abstract. Attention and interest in Turkic languages and their study existed in Arab countries long before the influx of Seljuk Turks into the territory of the caliphate, which coincides with approximately the 9th century. During this period, the influence of Turkish military leaders in state affairs increased every day, seizing almost all political power into their hands, so the Arabs were forced to study the Turkish language.
During the period of the Mongol invasion, the massive migration of the Turks to the west, with every day an increase in their numbers on the lands that belonged to the Mamluk sultans, significantly increased interest in the study of the Turkish language. In this regard, there was a need to write dictionaries and textbooks for Arabs to learn the Turkish language. The foundation of this work was laid by Mahmud Kashgari in the 11th century. In the 11th century, Mahmud Kashgari's writing of the "Divani dictionary It-Turk", which is considered one of the main sources of the literary language of the All-Turk, was the beginning of a great stage for Turkology and also laid the foundation for the comparative study of languages in world linguistics.
Mahmud Kashgari's work "Divani Lughat it-Turk" and the study of the subject of the Azerbaijani language, the development of the lexical units analyzed here in Turkish languages and dialects, "revealing the general evolutionary features of the ancient and current state of the Turkic languages, numerous linguistic phenomena and facts is one of the important and urgent problems facing modern Turkology". "History and culture of the Turkic peoples have a common root, and their languages or dialects and dialects are also based on the same root." Studying the dialects and accents of related Turkic languages in a comparative aspect is one of the priority issues of linguistics.
The process of comparing lexical units aims to reveal the richness of Turkish languages, to study the similarities and differences, and the work of Mahmud Kashgarli is of exceptional importance in this regard. From this point of view, the language facts in the dialects of the Azerbaijani language “provide researchers with rich facts in the study of the Azerbaijani language from various aspects.” It is necessary to carry out systematic research in this field.
